Acrylic paint is a paint that is used in for different crafts. The paint can be applied to objects and surfaces made of wood, metal, fabric and glass. Spilling acrylic paint on a wood surface is not a total loss as the paint can be removed even when it has dried. With chemicals such as acetone, acrylic paint can be easily removed from wood surfaces. Acrylic paint can sometimes be scraped off on nonporous wood surfaces. When this is not possible, acetone is needed.
Instructions
1. Wipe any excess fresh paint on the wood with either a hand rag or a paper towel.
2. Rinse the wood with hot water and scrub the surface with a hand rag and glycerin soap.
3. Attempt to remove the acrylic paint by scraping it off with a plastic putty knife. On some wood finishes, dried acrylic paint can be easily removed by scraping.
4. Sand down the acrylic paint on the wood utilizing fine-grit sand paper. Sand until the acrylic paint is down to the same level as the wood finish.
5. Place acetone onto the acrylic paint using a paintbrush for application. Acetone dissolves paint without causing damage to the wood underneath. Continue to apply the chemical until all of the acrylic paint is gone.
6. Apply furniture wax onto the wood and rub using a hand rag until the surface is polished.
