Make Your Look With Vinyl Siding

Alter the look of your home with vinyl siding.

If you're looking to customize the exterior of your home, consider the several different vinyl siding options that you can choose from. You can find siding in the color, material and style that best suits your preferences. From siding that looks like bricks or wood to vertical siding and siding that looks like shingles, you'll be able to customize your house and make it as unique as you want. While most people picture uneven-looking boards when they think of vinyl siding, modern siding has become uniform and attractive thanks to new boards.

Instructions

1. Choose the style of vinyl siding that you want for your home. For a rustic look, consider board and batten vinyl siding, which alternates wide and narrow boards; cedar shake vinyl siding; hand-split vinyl shake siding; or hand-split variegated vinyl shake siding. For a modern look, opt for smooth vinyl siding. Seamless vinyl siding, while a more expensive option, is made in long strips, reducing the amount of seams on your house.

2. Determine your insulation needs. Certain types of siding provide better insulation than others. Insulated vinyl siding will increase your energy efficiency and is also resistant to impact. You can either have foam insulation inserted behind your current siding panels, or choose vinyl siding that comes with a foam back. Seamless vinyl siding also offers a good amount of insulation. On the other hand, liquid vinyl siding will reflect heat, which makes it a good choice for houses located in warm climates.

3. Pick the color of siding you want. Some types of vinyl siding, like smooth vinyl siding, comes in a wide range of colors. You can customize the color of your siding with most siding styles, but color choices may vary. Ultimately, you can choose from earth tones to reds and blues. The color on vinyl siding goes through the panel instead of just laying on the surface. This means that if the panel is to get scratched, the color won't be scraped off.
