Select A Eco-friendly Interior Fresh paint

Choosing a green interior paint requires time and preparation. You must consider a number of factors before choosing the proper type of paint for your needs. Always consider the kind of paint base, sheen and area to be painted.

Instructions

1. Consider the surface to be painted. Different types of paints work best for moulding, trim, walls and ceilings.

2. Determine if you need oil-based or water-based green paint. Water-based paints are easier to use and clean up while oil-based offer greater durability and adhesion. Chalky surfaces that tend to bleed are best suited for oil-based.

3. Determine the quality of the green interior paints available. Latex paints typically have a greater percentage of pigments and binders by volume and are more durable over time.

4. Determine the type of sheen you need. Flat paints hide imperfections and are best for walls and ceilings. Gloss paints are brighter and best for highlighting trim, moulding and doors. Satin paints are more stain resistant than flat but don't highlight imperfections and are best for kitchen and bathroom walls.

5. Consider the other colors in the area where the green paint will be applied. Green's analogous colors are blue and yellow, and its complementary color is red. Intense shades of both colors can clash, however. Choosing a darker, more natural shade of green will create a more natural look and feel.
