Remove Fresh paint And Replace Vinyl Or Plastic Wooden shutters With Shutter Loks

Shutter "loks," or locks are a permanent way to install your decorative shutters. Once installed, the shutters are not intended to be taken down, but they can be removed for maintenance. You can also remove them and change the look of your home. Do not pull the shutters down with the locks installed or you will damage the surface of the shutters and possibly your home. Instead, cut the locks and reinstall them.

Instructions

1. Slide a chisel behind the shutters until it touches the shutter lock. Tap the chisel with a hammer until it cuts through the lock.

2. Place the shutter on the ground.

3. Use a 1/4-inch drill bit to drill around the portion of the lock in your home. Remove the remaining lock from the surface of the house.

4. Leave the hole open if you plan to reinstall the shutters. If you plan on leaving the shutters down, caulk up the hole by filling the hole and rubbing across the surface with a putty knife.
