Fresh paint A Rest Room

The break room is a place where your employees will go to relax and get away from the intensity of work. How you paint the room can have a major effect on the mood and energy of your workers. Paint your break room a color that will be both visually appealing and motivational for your employees.

Instructions

1. Paint the break room red if you are having a motivation or morale problem among the employees. Red inspires people to take action and become energized. Use red as a way to help make your workforce more passionate.

2. Use a shade of blue if you want your employees to calm themselves and relax during break time in preparation for the next block of work. Blue has a soothing effect on people. In color theory, darker shades also represent expertise and smarts. Keep in mind that blue can have a negative effect on appetite, which may not be an ideal choice if there is an eating area in the room.

3. Inject some happiness into the break room with the color yellow. The color of the sun, bright yellow, makes people more cheerful and stimulates the senses.

4. Choose a darker shade of green if you want money to stay on the mind of your employees. Green is very often associated with cash. So, for example, if you have a financial company or bank that requires the employees to handle and manage money daily, green might invoke thoughts of how they can help grow the client and company's money while they relax in the break room. (Avoid lighter shades of green, as this may make someone think of vomit and sickness.)

5. Tape the ceilings, light switches, windows, doors and fixtures with blue painter's tape. Move all appliances to the center and put down paint tarp. Cordon off the break room for at least two entire days.

6. Dip your brush into a tray containing your chosen paint color and run a line against the top and bottom edges of the wall (where the wall meets the ceiling and floor).

7. Fill in the rest of your wall with a paint roller. Add two coats to the walls of your break room. Stay consistent with the same color throughout so the room won't look too busy or chaotic.

8. Hire an artist to come paint a mural or individual images on your break room walls if you want. Choose images that are fun, interesting and positive as well as ones that spark reflection from your employees. Again, keep their minds stimulated, even during a break---this might make them excited about getting back to work so they can make a difference at the company.
