How Much to Charge for Cleaning Gutters?
In any maintenance service job (cleaning gutters, for example) there is good money to be made. However, charging the proper amount can be difficult to determine. The following guidelines will help you take into account the difficulty of and effort required by a particular job to help you determine a fair price.

1. Determine the level of difficulty of a job. When cleaning someone's gutters you can use a lot of common sense to determine how long the job will take. A good rule of thumb is to begin at $25 an hour, and then charge more for jobs of greater difficulty and danger. For most small, fairly flat-roofed, one-story homes, with not much more than an hour of gutter cleaning, you can charge between $25 to $40.
2. Take into account needed supplies. In the case of a larger, single-story or partial two-storied home with 2 to 4 hours of gutter cleaning, a longer extension ladder will be needed. Because you will need additional supplies and more cleaning is required, you can charge $75 to $100 for the job ($25 an hour, then added charges for more danger and difficulty of the project). This, on average, is what a gutter cleaning job will cost.
3. Factor in danger. For large, multi-storied houses with many more steep roof angles and more than 4 hours of work, you need to account for risk. For this sort of job, you can charge $125+ total ($25 an hour, then added charges for more danger and difficulty of the project). This is the most difficult kind of gutter cleaning job and should be priced accordingly.
