Choose Fresh paint Colors For Any Family Room Having A Attic

Finding paint chips you like is only part of deciding a loft-living room color scheme.

Living rooms with lofts present a decorating challenge in terms of selecting paint colors. These two separate rooms are open to one another, and each influences the other in the overall decorating scheme. The solution for choosing the right paint colors for this situation depends on a several factors, including use of the space, your current furnishings, and your preferences. Taken together, these factors should help you decide on the color scheme that's right for your loft and living room area.

Instructions

1. Determine how you'll use the space. Colors often dictate mood, so if you're looking for a sunny feeling, gravitate toward brighter colors such as yellows, oranges or greens. If you're embracing a trendy color scheme, experiment with something like a pink and orange combination.

2. Coordinate your paint choices around your furniture colors, if you plan on keeping your current furniture.

3. Consider applying a graduated paint technique to the wall. This technique allows you to introduce more than one color to the painting scheme without creating a harsh line between the two. For example, you might choose two shades of blue, such as cobalt and robin's egg. Apply the deep cobalt blue to the lower part of the wall, and gradually introduce the robin's egg blue until the top portion of the ceiling is the light blue. This works well for the tall ceilings that sometimes come with a loft space.

4. Use the paint color to separate the space's different areas; it'll make each area stand out more. You might select a terracotta red for the loft and a golden yellow for the space below. You can use the graduated paint technique in this case, but you also have the option of allowing the paint to create the mark between the two areas, if you're aiming for more distinction between them.

5. Paint the space one uniform color, and decorate with accent colors if you're concerned about introducing too many colors in an open-space area like a loft. For example, if you selected a golden yellow for your walls, trim areas such as the door jambs, the bannister or even the stairs. This allows you to introduce color without being overwhelmed by it.

6. Go with the your favorite color when all else fails, and look for variations on that color to suit your tastes and living space needs.
