Choose Fresh paint Colors To Split Up Two Rooms

Decorating a house with a large open space, even if the space technically includes two different rooms, seems easy at first glance. If you want to separate and define each space, however, it takes some creativity and smart decorating. The trick is to use paint to distinguish between the two rooms while avoiding overpowering one of the rooms at the same time. Find common elements to bridge the two rooms so that the change in paint color isn't so abrupt.

Instructions

1. Decide if you want the colors to be similar, such as two complementary shades of green or blue; or if you want to use two entirely different contrasting colors such as red and blue.

2. Use the corner where the rooms come together to separate them by color, or install a strip of molding between the rooms if they share a wall. This will clearly define each room's area but allow the entire space to remain open.

3. Incorporate items into each room that contain some of the coloring from the adjoining room. For example, if you use red in one room and blue in the next, find a rug, pillow or drapes that contain both colors. This will create continuity between the spaces as well as further defining each room as individual.
