Fresh paint A Nontoxic Card board Box

Cardboard boxes make great props for kids and are easily painted.

Tempera paint has long been a favorite paint for children or children's projects since it is non-toxic, dries quickly and is easy to clean up. This makes tempera paint a great choice for painting cardboard boxes for stage props, children's toys or even presentations. You can even use tempera paint to paint special effects onto a cardboard box such as bricks, wood grain and other faux finishes. To make old, worn-looking boxes, crinkle up the cardboard after you paint it, which will cause cracks in the paint.

Instructions

1. Knock down the cardboard box so it will lay flat while you are painting it.

2. Pour out a generous amount of tempera paint onto a scrap piece of cardboard.

3. Dip the paintbrush or sponge brush into the tempera paint and apply to one side of the box in broad strokes. Allow each side of the box to dry before painting the next side.

4. Continue painting each side of the cardboard box with non-toxic tempera paint until all four sides are painted.
