Placed On Vinyl Siding On The House

Putting up vinyl siding is a great way to improve the look of your home. Without the hassle of having to paint year after year you will also save money. Lets take a look at the right way to hang vinyl siding.

Instructions

1. First you need to measure the home for the siding and determine how many corner channels and j channels you will need. There are 10 pieces of siding in every square and channels are usually sold in 10-12 foot pieces. Always buy extra...If you determine that you need 10 squares for your home then buy 12 to be on the safe side..The same goes for channels.

You will also need to purchase the insulation. For vinyl siding you will most likely want to go with the foam based board. This is easy to handle and hang. Buy plenty to account for waste and mistages that are made.

2. Next you will hang the insulation. You will be wrapping the entire home in the insulation. There is no need to make this look all that nice as it will be covered with the siding. You can nail it as much as you need to make sure you have no lose pieces.

3. Now you will need to hang the channels and starter pieces. For all corners on the home cut corner pieces to fit. For the windows go all the way around the windows with the j channel. The same should be done for the top of the home where the siding will stop.

Starter pieces are the tops of the vinyl siding that give you a starting point. Using your level and chalk line you should make sure that all the way around the bottom of the home you have a starter piece. Using your level and chalk line will ensure that it is straight and level. If not then you will have pieces that are crooked and not very eye appealing. This can also cause the home to look slanted.

4. Now you are ready to start adding siding. Select a piece and cut it to a certain length. There is no set length that you have to use. However, you are going to want to make sure that you are staggering the seams. Use the chop saw for each piece to make sure that you are getting a nice straight cut.

Nail the pieces into place and move on to the next. Make sure that you are locking the pieces in to each other and setting them into your channels.

Continue until you the job is complete. Check your level every once in a while to ensure a straight completion.
