Using drop cloths protects surfaces from paint splatters.
Insulating paint prevents heat from going outside the house when you apply it to interior walls, and it prevents heat from going inside when you apply it to exterior walls. It eases the load on home insulation products and heating and cooling systems. Insulating paint improves comfort in the house and helps you save on energy bills. You can use insulating paint on walls, ceilings, roofs, pipes, fittings, vehicles and mobile homes.
Instructions
1. Use caulking gun to apply caulk to joints, cracks and seams in the surface to prepare a smooth surface. Apply putty to window panes with loose or missing putty. Use wood putty to fill cracks or holes in wood materials.
2. Use a sandpaper or a sanding drill to smooth rough spots in the surface, remove loose paint and get rid of grime.
3. Lay plastic or paper drop cloths on the ground by the surface you want to paint to provide protection from paint splatters.
4. Open the insulating paint can and pour off any thin, floating portion of the paint into another container. Stir the paint in the main container with a paddle, adding the thin paint portion back into the paint little by little. Pour all the paint into the other container and back into the original container until the paint is thoroughly mixed.
5. Paste painter's tape on areas where two paint colors meet to prevent painting over the border.
6. Pour the paint into a paint tray. Dip a roller or a brush into the paint and apply it to the surface, working section by section until you cover the entire surface.
7. Remove the painter's tape.
8. Wash your hands with a special waterless cleaner for paints and wash brushes and rollers with paint cleaner.
