Decorate With a Blue Sofa
1. Decide on a wall color. Since your sofa is blue, choose a complementary color. Don't paint the wall the same color as the sofa. A light blue sofa with a dark blue wall, however, is a good choice. For a bold look, a contrasting shade like orange will do the trick, or choose a neutral for a more earthy style. Compare color swatches and find a color combination that's to your liking.
2. Find a rug that has both the sofa and wall colors in it, if you choose. Or go with a neutral. Once you've painted the walls and moved your sofa into place, a color scheme will begin to emerge and you'll be able to pick the rug and your other accessories much more easily.
3. A sofa of any color looks great with a large piece of artwork on the wall behind it. Choose something that matches your personal styles and your color scheme. As an alternative to one large piece, you can also group small pictures gallery-style.
4. Decorate the sofa with a few throw pillows, and even some larger pillows that can be used as extra seating on the floor. If your sofa is a solid color, choose pillows with a pattern. If you're decorating with a patterned sofa, find throw pillows in complementary solid colors.
