Repair Exterior Stucco Cracks

Exterior stucco cracks allow water to seep into the walls of the structure and wreak havoc. Cracks must be repaired as soon as possible to lessen the structural damage. Repairing stucco is a tricky job because it is near impossible to match the repaired area to the existing stucco and most repairs will be noticeable. You can paint over cracks repaired with caulk to help blend them into your structure.

Instructions

1. Clean out the crack with a wire brush and wipe away any loose pieces with a rag.

2. Fit a stucco caulk that is safe for exterior use into a caulk gun. Fill the crack with stucco caulk by starting at the top of the crack and working down until the crack is filled. Allow the stucco caulk to dry to the manufacturer's recommendations.

3. Paint the caulk to match the surrounding area with exterior-grade paint and a paintbrush.
