Polka dots on the wall are one of the hottest trends in home decor. These painted dots can add color and an artistic look to any wall and are especially popular with girls. Depending on your personal preference, you can paint a few polka dots or cover the wall in them. Paint the polka dots to match bedding, throw pillows and other decorative accessories. Painting a funky wall covered in dots is an easy project that anyone can do.
Instructions
1. Determine the size of polka dots that you want. Find an item in your home that is the size that you want. Plastic cups, butter lids, compact discs, plastic plates and plastic bowls are ideal templates for making polka dots.
2. Take the object that you have selected and press it against the wall. Use a soft pencil or chalk to trace around the object.
3. Using the same technique, make another dot a few inches away from the first dot. Make the dots as close together or as far apart as you desire.
4. Make another dot in between the other dots. You can have dots overlap if you like.
5. Use a yardstick and the pencil or chalk to draw lines on the wall if you want the dots lined up in a row. Check that the lines are even with a level. Draw as many lines as you like. These lines will serve as guidelines as you add more dots.
6. Select paint colors that will complement the overall wall color. For example, if have a pink wall, paint the polka dots white or black to make the dots pop. Choose three different colors or one color in three different shades. If you want a very colorful wall, choose more paint colors.
7. Outline the edges of the dots with a liner paintbrush or a round paintbrush. Allow the paint to dry.
8. Use a flat brush to fill in all of the dots.
