Vinyl siding is a cost-efficient and beautiful way to enhance the look of your home's exterior. However, it is not completely work free. Siding is not usually a great place for moss to grow; however, once it does, getting rid of it can be done fairly quickly with just a few steps.
Instructions
1. Visually inspect your exterior. Make sure the moss is only on your siding and not coming from between your seams. If the moss is coming from between the chinks in the siding, you may need to manually scrape the moss off.
2. Eliminate growing conditions. Moss prefers moist, shady areas. Remove overhanging branches to decrease shade and leaves collected in the gutters to reduce moisture.
3. Pressure wash the moss away. This will remove most of the moss on the surface using only the power of water. No harmful chemicals or soaps. This can be done completely from the ground, allowing you to avoid using a ladder and putting yourself at risk. Make sure to get under the roof eaves.
4. Use a chemical moss killer to ensure that all the moss is gone. There are several different kinds of chemical moss killers. Each of them has their pros and cons. Read the usage instructions carefully before purchasing and using.
