Fresh paint One Color On The Wall & Another Around The Ceiling Nicely

Most of the time when we are planning to paint a room, we would paint or finish the ceiling in one color and paint the walls a different color. This method of painting helps to open up the room and make it appear more "open." The most common color for a ceiling is white, and plaster or stucco is sometimes used to create textures. If you are planning to paint the walls a different color, you will need to do it in a way that the two colors lay neatly against each other.

Instructions

1. Prepare the wall surfaces and room for painting. Sand down any existing paint or use a primer if you are painting on new walls.

2. Paint the ceiling first using a long paint roller. Use an angled brush to paint where the ceiling meets the wall. Wait for the ceiling to dry completely before you move on the walls. Tape off the very edge where the walls meet the ceiling and make sure there are no bubbles in the tape for paint to get underneath.

3. Paint where the wall meets the ceiling with a clean angled brush. Work slowly but try to make the least amount of strokes as possible. Paint about four or five inches down from the top of the wall. Keep a wet rag handy in case you get some of the paint on the ceiling.

4. Immediately after you paint the edge at the top, paint the rest of the way down the wall with a clean roller. You will need to do this while the paint at the top is still wet.

5. Wait until your first coat is completely dry before you add another coat and use the same technique to keep from getting the paint on the ceiling as you paint your walls.
