Work the primer and paint into cracks in the T1-11 using a paintbrush.
T1-11 is a type of wood siding composed either of oriented stand board or plywood. This type of siding contains vertical grooves and cracks that can make painting difficult. Proper application will enhance coverage, resulting in a smooth, even finish free from noticeable skip marks and flaws. Ordinary primers may not adhere well to certain types of T1-11. If you want your finish to last, your best bet is to prepare the T1-11 with a special stain-blocking primer. This will ensure a durable finish in the smallest number of coats.
Instructions
1. Wash the T1-11 using a pressure washer. Don't skip this step even if the siding looks clean, as unseen dust particles will prevent primer from properly adhering. Let the T1-11 dry for 24 hours.
2. Position dropcloths below the T1-11. Cover areas adjacent to the siding using low-tack painter's tape.
3. Coat the T1-11 siding with a stain-blocking primer, using a roller. Move the roller up and down across a single 2-foot-wide portion of the siding. Smooth the stain-blocking primer using a paintbrush. Brush vertically, effectively working the primer into the small cracks within the siding. Let the T1-11 dry for two hours.
4. Wash your brush.
5. Paint the T1-11 just as you primed it, using a roller and then a paintbrush. Apply two coats of acrylic latex paint. Wait two hours between coats.
