Choose A Fresh paint Color For Any Bed room

Use paint samples to see how colors look in your lighting.

Choosing a paint color for bedrooms seems like a daunting task because this is a place where you spend so much time. However, it isn't so difficult if you carefully consider what you want from the room and how it will go with the rest of your decor. Take your time when choosing colors, and consult decor magazines and online resources to get ideas for the look you want to achieve.

Instructions

1. Decide what kind of tone you want to set in the bedroom. For example, cool colors can make a bedroom feel tranquil and relaxed, while warm colors give a romantic feel. Warm colors will also make a room feel warmer in a cool climate, while cool colors have the opposite effect.

2. Consider the shade of color. Light shades are more flexible and work in rooms of different sizes, while dark or bold shades work better in large rooms, rooms with good lighting and rooms with a dramatic decor.

3. Choose how many colors you want to include in the room. For example, you can have two colors, one for the trim and one for the walls. Three colors work if you add stenciling, patterns or walls with several tones, and four or more colors work if you have a bold accent wall plus several colors on the other walls. Usually, the fewer colors the room has, the more subtle the look, but if you use several light colors, you can still achieve a muted look.

4. Consider the furniture you already have in the room and see if you can pull together a look by complementing the paint with the existing colors. For example, if you have wrought-iron furniture, you could paint your walls with terracotta colors to achieve an Old World look. Whereas, if you have classic white furniture, you can achieve a French country look with pastel or off-white walls.

5. Try out your paint selections by buying samples and painting them on the wall's surface. See how the colors work in your lighting before making your final decision. By painting a strip of color on the wall, you get a better idea of the color than you would from the small swatches handed out by the paint manufacturers.
