Fresh paint Corner Gap Between Door Jambs

If you've ever painted the inside of your house, you know that little strip of wall in the corner where two door jambs meet and you just can't get a brush in there for anything. This isn't a big deal if your walls are white; but if you paint a color you are left with a white strip in the corner. It's easy to ignore; but it looks kind of obvious. When someone is paying me to paint, you can bet they want every bit of the wall painted. I can't just ignore those tricky little corners. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

1. There are three methods you can use. The carefully mask off everything method. The slower artist brush technique. Or my favorite--slop it on and wipe it off.

2. If you don't have a little paint brush or artists brush and you are the methodical type, tape everything off. Unless you're using wide masking tape you'll probably have to double it up to protect the woodwork. Wrap the tape slightly around the edge of the door jambs and the little piece of baseboard. Press it down firmly. Using the edge of your brush, work the paint into the narrow corner, taking time to step back and see if you have missed any spots. When it's dry, remove the tape.

3. If you have a good artists brush, very carefully paint down each strip of wall. Since little brushes put on a thinner layer of paint you'll probably have to do at least two coats. Between coats, stand back and see if you've missed anything.

4. My favorite and the easiest. Don't bother with tape. Have some damp (not really wet) rags on hand. With the edge of your regular paint brush, paint the corner. Don't worry about getting it all over the trim. As soon as you are done, wipe the fresh paint off the woodwork turning the rag until it's all cleaned off. Not only is the corner painted, your woodwork is clean.
