Vinyl is a versatile siding material. It comes in a wide variety of colors and it is able to withstand high heat, cold temperatures, precipitation and wind of up to 110 mph, according to the Vinyl Siding Institute. The siding is relatively low maintenance, as you don't need to paint it every year like wood siding or repair mortar like brick construction. Instead, clean stains such as black scuff marks as soon as you notice them to prevent them from baking or settling into the siding.
Instructions
1. Rub a pencil eraser over the black scuff mark. If the scuff mark is new, it will likely come off this way. If it is old, proceed with another stain removal technique.
2. Soak a clean cloth in clear water.
3. Rub the cloth over the scuff mark until you remove as much of it as possible.
4. Spray window cleaner over the scuff mark if it is still visible. Let the window cleaner sit for several minutes.
5. Scrub the scuff mark off with a soft-bristled brush.
6. Wipe the area with a water-soaked cloth and let it dry completely.
