Fresh paint A Motorbike Using Flat Colors

Painting your motorcycle with flat colors can give it a more customized look.

Using flat colors on your motorcycle can give it a customized, utilitarian appearance that will turn heads and let lookers know that you have your own independent style. Painting a motorcycle with flat colors is not much different than painting with high-gloss paint because flat paint processes exist where the paint flattener is already added to the color. This urethane system eliminates the need for a final flat clear coat.

Instructions

1. Prepare your motorcycle for painting by taking off the fenders and gas tank with a screwdriver and adjustable wrench. Sand off old paint and rust with sandpaper. Knock out any small dings in the gas tank and fenders by gently tapping the underside of the metal with a small hammer. Wipe down the parts to be painted with a clean rag to remove any debris.

2. Mix four parts of charcoal-colored flat paint to one part of hardener and reducer by pouring them in a bucket and stirring with a wooden stirrer. Pour the paint into a spray paint gun.

3. Place your motorcycle parts to be painted on a table in the spray booth. Put on your safety glasses and respirator. Adjust the spray paint gun to a medium spray, or until you are comfortable with the flow, and spray paint your motorcycle parts with an even motion to prevent drips. Let them dry completely according to the paint manufacturer's instructions, and then paint them with a second coat. Flush out your paint gun with water, and remove excess paint in it with paper towels.

4. Tape the flame stencils to the sides of the gas tank with masking tape when the second coat has completely dried. Mix four parts of black flat paint to one part of hardener and reducer by pouring them in a bucket and stirring with a wooden stirrer. Pour the paint into a spray paint gun.

5. Spray inside the stencils with the black flat paint, coating the stencil interior evenly. Let the paint dry before removing the stencil.
