Easily repair interior stucco
Stucco is a popular material used for both exterior and interior surfaces. Composed of Portland cement, sand, and clay, stucco is an easy to work with, yet sturdy material that can enliven a home's interior space. If parts of your interior stucco finish are crumbling or flaking off, it is best to scrape away the poor sections and repair them with a stucco patch.
Instructions
1. Lay drop cloths under the area that you will be repairing to protect your floor from stains and spills.
2. Scrape away the loose stucco with the drywall knife. Only pry away the stucco that is loose and avoid breaking off any additional stucco.
3. Brush the edges of the stucco with the wire brush so new stucco will properly adhere.
4. Moisten the area that you are going to repair with water so that it is slightly damp to the touch.
5. Hold the hawk in your non dominant hand and scoop the pre-mixed stucco onto the hawk with the steel trowel. The hawk is a flat board with a small handle for holding stucco material easily in one hand when applying.
6. Scoop the stucco onto the wall and spread it evenly so the repair is even with the existing stucco.
7. Moisten a sponge and sweep it across the stucco surface to smooth the stucco and better join the present stucco with the repair.
8. Add texture to the stucco by blotching it with the damp sponge. You can paint the stucco after is has cured for one week.
