Fresh paint Composite Siding

Although composite siding isn't too difficult to paint, there are some things to pay attention to that can help you avoid chipping and peeling over time. Most of these involve preparation and a few subtle application techniques. If you plan to paint composite siding, you need to know these minor intricacies before you get stared or you are likely to end up with disappointing results.

Instructions

1. Clean dirt and dust from the composite siding using a pressure washer. Allow the surface to dry before moving on.

2. Cut the tip from the tube of caulk. Load the tube into the caulking gun.

3. Fill the seams and any cracks or holes in the composite siding using the caulking gun. Allow the caulk to dry for one day.

4. Fill the 5-gallon bucket about halfway with latex primer. Attach the nap cover to the frame.

5. Apply primer to the composite siding using the roller. Roll vertically, moving from left to right.

6. Brush the bottom rough edges of the composite siding using the 3- to 4-inch paintbrush. Allow the primer to dry for three hours.

7. Wash all painting tools with water. Shake the brush forcefully to remove excess moisture.

8. Apply latex paint in the same manner as you did the primer.
