Just follow these painting tips to add awesome detail to your rooms now that you know apply faux paint finishes to your walls.

Instructions

1. Remove accessories that you want to faux finish. You can finish electrical switch plate and outlet covers, heat and air conditioning vent covers, and even closet doors.

2. Clean them to remove any loose particles and grease.

3. Lightly sand high gloss finishes.

4. Apply a coat of primer and let dry overnight. If the finish appears thin, apply a second coat of primer.

5. Apply the base coat color used on your walls. With complicated accessories such as air conditioning vent covers, use a small artist style brush to fully cover all the parts even inside the vent. Let dry overnight.

6. Using a rag or sponge, apply the faux glaze mix you used on the walls, trying to match the pattern as closely as possible. Let dry overnight.

7. If you're satisfied that your accessory matches the walls, attach the item to the wall.

8. After the item is screwed back in its place, take a tiny brush or cotton swab and dab the head of the mounting screws with the glaze mix. Now everything blends in with your beautifully faux finished walls!
