Here's an effective way to choose a paint color for your interior rooms, including living room, dining room, bedroom, guest room, bathroom, etc.
Instructions
1. Many people choose a paint color by looking around the room or at items which will be in the room such as rugs, bedspreads, artwork, furniture. However, one effective way to select a paint color that complements your home is to look outside.
2. Look out each window in a room and carefully note the colors you see. Often you have looked at the view so many times that you no longer distinguish the different colors. Depending on the part of the country you live in, you will notice that there is a predominance of one or more colors.
3. If you live in a mountainous region, you may look out one window and see pine tree green, and purplish-blue mountains with snowcapped peaks. However, if you are in a coastal region, you may see lighter green marsh grass, sandy beaches, ocean blues. Desert regions will be full of browns, oranges, and terra cotta.
4. Bring home a big stack of paint chips from the hardware store in many different colors. In the morning when the light is best, stand in front of the window and hold paint chips up to the outdoors. You will be able to find an array of paint samples which correspond to the view that you are seeing. You can select your room color from this grouping.
