Polish Gold Metallic Fresh paint

Don't give up on your jewelery before trying to restore it.

When you are looking to clean up jewelery or anything else coated in gold metallic paint, the threat of tarnishing is always present. Because metallic paint only colors a surface, it is not as robust as an item that is made of gold. For this reason, you should not attempt to clean painted gold with harsh jewelery cleaners or solvents. However, with the assistance of some household products, you can bring the life back to your unpolished items.

Instructions

1. Clean the piece by soaping and running warm water over it. Make sure you attend to any crevices that could harbor dirt and further take away from the piece's appearance. Rinse well. If your piece is very dirty or tarnished, soak it in a tub of water for 3 to 4 minutes to help the grime fall away.

2. Cover the piece in toothpaste and rinse. It is best to distribute the toothpaste with a soft brush to ensure that the piece receives an even coat, but avoid scratching the brush over any gemstones or pearls. Pat the piece dry with a towel. If the piece still looks unpolished, move on to the method described in Step 3.

3. Mix the water and baking soda together until you have a paste. Apply the mixture to the jewelery and rinse. For additional tarnish removal, rinse with vinegar before rinsing with water, as the chemical reaction produced by the vinegar and baking soda will help remove any remaining tint on the jewelery's surface.

4. Rub the pretreated jewelery cloth over the surface of the piece. Jewelery cloths help restore shine and prevent further tarnish.
