Fresh paint Indoor Concrete Flooring

Rejuvenate concrete floors with several coats of paint.

Concrete that has never been painted can look old and dull, and does nothing for a living space. But a few coats of paint can do a lot to spruce up an old concrete floor. Covering concrete with a few layers of paint is an inexpensive way to update your floors. With a little elbow grease, you can transform that old, lifeless concrete floor into an integral part of your interior design.

Instructions

1. Mix the trisodium phosphate cleaner with water in a bucket according to the manufacturer's directions. Mop the floor with the cleaner and rinse with clean water. Allow to dry completely.

2. Fill in any holes or gouges in the concrete with a concrete patch mix. Mix according to package directions and apply to the concrete with a trowel. Let dry completely.

3. Tape off with painter's tape any areas of the floor you don't want painted.

4. Apply one coat of concrete primer paint with a long-handled roller. Use a paintbrush to reach corners and to paint along baseboards. Allow the primer to dry thoroughly.

5. Apply a coat of paint to the concrete floor with the roller. Use a paintbrush for corners and along baseboards. Let dry completely. Apply two to four more coats, if desired. Allow to dry thoroughly in between each coat.

6. Finish the floor with two coats of clear polyurethane sealer. Let the floor dry completely between coats.
