A maintenance man must have construction skills such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, and roofing. The maintenance man's job involves a variety of duties that may include plumbing, fixing or painting doors or repairing specialized equipment. Those interested in this career may specialize in one field, such as plumbing or carpentry, or these workers can perform several different duties. Maintenance men can become employed at cafeterias, schools, hospitals or other facilities that require repair services.
