Use the warmth of gold paint to liven up your basement decor.
Warm up your basement with a light, warm color such as gold. Gold paint can range from glittery jewelry-toned gold to earthy golden yellow or beige tones. The way you decorate your basement will largely depend on what you intend to use it for and the shade of the gold paint on the walls. Decorate your basement to be functional and inviting and reflect the style of you and your family.
Instructions
1. Furnish the room with furniture that complements the gold walls and flows with your decorating style, theme and color scheme. Blue, black, white, red and green are colors that you can use with gold. Dark wood can play off the gold as well, though too much dark wood can make the basement feel closed in and result in a need for more light.
2. Set up any games, such as a foosball or pool table, a wet bar, desk or other items that will go in the basement. Paint shelves or cabinets white or another light, but complementary, color to store board games, books, movies or other supplies you keep in the basement.
3. Install lights in the basement to make up for the lack of natural light. Large lights should hang from the ceiling over task areas coupled with table and floor lamps.
4. Hang wall decor in the basement to complement your theme. For example, if your basement is used primarily as a media room, hang framed posters from your favorite movies or movie-related items, such as sculptures of film reels, popcorn bags and a director's clapboard. If your basement is a game room, hang pictures or posters that represent your favorite games. For example, if your basement is full of casino-style games, hang framed pictures of playing cards or poker chips.
5. Add accessories throughout the room to complete your decor and tie it all together. Add houseplants, candles, keepsakes, flowers or other items that you wish to display if they fit in with your theme and color scheme.
