Paint a Wall to Make It a White Board
If you have a creative family that loves to draw or young children who only seem to want to paint on the wall, whiteboard paint is the answer for you. Whiteboard paint, also known as dry-erase paint, is similar to regular house paint. However, whiteboard paint dries extremely glossy and can be written on with dry-erase markers. Erase your creations and make new ones as often as you want, giving your walls a new design every day. Applying whiteboard paint is much like applying regular paint. This includes preparing the wall.
Instructions
1. Mix together a solution of warm water and mild dish soap. Dampen a colorfast, lint-free rag in the solution and wipe down the entire wall to remove grease and dirt buildup. Rinse the wall with a clean, damp rag and allow the wall to dry.
2. Scoop a small amount of Spackle or drywall compound onto the putty knife. Slide the putty knife over nail holes and gouges in your wall to fill them with Spackle. Apply enough Spackle so that it rises slightly above the wall surface, then allow it to dry.
3. Sand the dried Spackle with 180-grit sandpaper until it is even with the wall. Wipe away any sanding dust.
4. Apply latex primer to the entire wall area with a paint roller. Let it dry completely.
5. Apply one coat of whiteboard paint over the dry primer with a clean paint roller. Make sure to cover the entire wall area, then allow it to dry. Draw on your whiteboard wall with dry-erase markers.
