The Tuscan style is reminiscent of old Italian-style family homes. Telling features include Mediterranean colors and the use of old rustic decor made with metal or straw. When decorating the exterior of your home, going simple will help you achieve a genuine Tuscan vibe. There are a few different things you can do to Tuscan-ize the outside your house, no matter what the structure looks like.
Instructions
1. Paint your house in a color that complements the size and shape of your home. Smaller homes can often pull off vibrant, more daring shades, while larger homes look best with subtle shades. Colors that harness the feel of the Tuscan style are white, grey, beige, deep red, cool blues and all earth tones.
2. Line an outside wall with a row of terra cotta pots. You can choose to leave them empty or fill them with soil and flowers or other plants.
3. Hang a large metal d cor piece on the side of the house. There are many different types, from shovels and wheels to abstract metal wall hangings. Any type will support the Tuscan style.
4. Set up a patio table and chairs just outside the home to serve as an "al fresco" area. Keep true to the Italian theme and use a table and chairs made with black metal or iron frames.
5. Install iron doorknobs and/or window bars to the outside of your home.
