Fresh paint A Concrete Pathway

Painting your concrete walkway is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to beautify the outside of your home, especially if the walkway is old or has previously been neglected. You should paint on a warm and dry weekend with a light breeze for best results.

Instructions

1. Thoroughly wash and dry the concrete walkway. For new walkways, use a pushbroom to spread a soap and water mixture over the concrete. For old or excessively used walkways, use a pressure washer to ensure all stains and oils are out of the concrete before you paint. Allow to dry, covered, for 24 hours.

2. Fill any holes or cracks in the concrete with hydraulic cement. Apply sealer to the concrete using the paintbrush for the edges of the walkway, and the outdoor roller for the wide center section. Allow to dry, covered, for 24 hours.

3. Apply a thin coat of concrete primer using the paintbrush on the edges of the walkway, and the outdoor roller for the middle sections. Allow to dry, covered loosely, for 24 hours.

4. Apply two coats of concrete stain or floor paint in the same manner as the concrete primer.
