Fresh paint Your Bathroom Inside A Neutral

Neutral colors
often make rooms look larger.

Neutral colors are more than just the basic grays, browns and whites. The neutral color range also includes a wide variety of pale blues and purples. If you are considering repainting a bathroom, a neutral paint color can enhance the room without creating a distraction. Neutral-colored bathroom walls also allow you to use almost any other color in the shower curtains, rugs and other decorative items, which all blend well with neutral colors.

Instructions

1. Move all items out of the bathroom and detach any outlet covers, towel bars and other items using a screwdriver. Place painter's tape over all remaining areas that you do not want to paint, including the trim work around windows and doors. Place a drop cloth over the floor and counters to protect them as well.

2. Examine the walls for areas that are peeling or flaking, and scrape them smooth using a paint scraper.

3. Open a can of primer and pour it into a paint tray. Insert a paint roller into the primer until it is saturated. Roll the primer on all the wall surfaces in the bathroom until no portion of the old paint color is visible. Then use a small paint brush to paint any areas around the trim or ceiling where the roller missed.

4. Wait 24 hours to allow the primer to dry thoroughly. You may want to close the bathroom door and turn on the exhaust fan during this time to remove the fumes.

5. Open a can of your chosen neutral paint color in a semi-gloss finish. Pour the paint into a clean paint tray and insert a clean paint roller into it.

6. Roll the neutral paint onto the wall using a "W" shaped motion and overlapping the strokes. Continue until no portion of the primer is visible. Use a paintbrush to paint corner crevices and the top of the wall near the ceiling.

7. Wait until the paint is dry and then remove all the painter's tape. Reinstall all electrical outlet covers and other wall fixtures by reinserting the screws.
