Kinds Of Indoor Fresh paint

Choosing the right type of indoor paint is crucial for the outcome.

Changing the color of your walls can make a big difference in the room's appearance. Not to mention it's an easy way to makeover a room. If you are trying to match with a specific something in the room, for instance your couch, take a sample of the couch's color when you go to choose the paint. Many stores can give you a perfect match and you lower the risk of making several trips to the store.

Latex Paint

The most common and preferred indoor paint is latex. Latex primarily consists of water so it dries rather fast. Latex has minimal odor to it and cleans up with soap and water. Latex paint should be applied when the room temperature is above 50 degrees F. Latex comes in a flat or matte finish with not much of a sheen or gloss to it. Opt for matte finish in areas that are not exposed to high humidity because the paint will absorb the moisture and discolor as time goes by.

Alkyd Paint

Alkyd, or oil-based, paints are commonly used for painting doors, trim and hallways. Some people still prefer to use them in their kitchens or bathrooms, where they can easily wash the walls with most standard cleaners. Alkyd paint is thicker and smooth applications are easily applied. Alkyd paint should not be applied to drywall that is not primed. Solvents are required for clean-up of alkyd paint and a well-vented room is recommended.

Textured Paint

Textured paint is beneficial if you want to achieve a stucco-like finish. Textured paint is recommended for surfaces that have flaws because the paint can easily disguise them. You can either purchase paint that is already textured or you can mix in particles to create the texture you want. You can use textured paint in a flat latex finish or with an alkyd formula. Ceilings are often painted with latex finish textured paint because primer is not required.
