Fresh paint Kitchen Home appliances

Paint Kitchen Appliances

When you cannot afford to purchase a whole new set of appliances, but you need to renovate your kitchen, painting the appliances yourself can be a great solution. The process is not very difficult and the results are often excellent. If your kitchen appliances have plenty of life left and just need a facelift, appliance paint is the way to go.

Instructions

1. Prepare your appliances for painting. Disconnect your refrigerator, dishwasher or other appliance, and move it to the middle of the room over a drop cloth (outdoors is even better, but not always feasible). Thoroughly clean the appliance with a grease-cutting cleaner, rinse off residual cleaner and allow it to dry completely.

2. Sand any rusted spots lightly to smooth and apply a rust inhibitor according to the product's label directions. Not treating rust spots properly guarantees your new paint job will not last long.

3. Use a screwdriver to remove any hardware such as handles that you do not wish to paint. If handles cannot be easily removed, use painter's tape to mask them off. Take care to fully mask off unpainted areas, as a sloppy paint job will not make your old appliances look any newer.

4. If you have never used spray paint before, it's a good idea to practice smooth, light coats on a piece of cardboard until you get the hang of spray painting.

5. Apply appliance paint in even, sweeping motions, taking care to coat evenly and avoid drips. Continue to apply paint, in multiple coats, until you achieve an even finish. Allow paint to dry completely before reinstalling the appliance, following the recommended curing time on the paint package.
