Fresh paint An Art Room

Various craft supplies are used in a craft room.

Your craft room is a place where creativity is key. When painting your craft room, select shades that will enhance creativity while providing appropriate light. Choose colors such as peach, sage and warm white. These shades act as a neutral backdrop that will not interfere with colors that are used in your craft projects. Light paint colors will open up your craft room by reflecting light. This will make the room appear larger than it actually is.

Instructions

1. Use paint manufacturer websites to browse online picture galleries. Use color chips that are available at home improvement stores and paint stores. Narrow down your color choices to three of your favorite colors. Purchase sample paint.

2. Apply sample paint to your craft room wall in small sections. Examine the sampled paint at various times of the day and at night. Select your favorite paint color.

3. Cover objects with plastic sheeting. Place a drop cloth on the floor. Apply painter's tape to baseboards, window seals and around the border of the ceiling.

4. Mix two cups of white vinegar with one tablespoon of detergent and hot water in a container. In small sections, scrub the wall with the solution and a sponge mop. Allow to dry.

5. Outline your craft room with primer. With an angled brush, apply a three inch line of primer around window seals, along the baseboards and along the tops of the walls. Apply primer in the corners of the room.

6. Apply primer to the walls. Use a long-handled paint roller. Work in small sections, using an up-and-down motion. Allow the primer to dry for two to three hours.

7. Outline your craft room with paint. With an angled brush, apply a three inch line of paint along the baseboards, around window seals and along the tops of the walls. Apply paint in the corners of the room.

8. Paint the walls with a long-handled paint roller. Work in small sections. Apply a thin coat of paint, using even strokes, in an up-and-down motion. Allow paint to dry. Latex paint dries in four to six hours. Oil-based paint takes 24 hours. Apply a second coat of paint if needed.
