Candy paint
is the name for certain types of car paint that provide a glossy sheen and a protective layer over the vehicle. Candy paint helps prevent damage to your car from dust, dirt, heat, sun and even fire. Candy paint is more expensive though, and it's usually applied by robots due to the exact nature of the paint job. If you want to apply candy paint yourself, you can, but it's important that you're very careful with your steps.
Instructions
1. Apply your sealer coat. The sealer is a layer of colored paint that's meant to go directly over the base metal of your car. The sealer can be clear or colored, but if it's colored it will affect the color of your other layers. The sealer comes in black, gray and white, each of which should be matched with a light, dark or in-between color of candy paint.
2. Apply the base coat of paint over the sealer coat. The base coat is the actual car paint, and it can be whatever shade you want. You should evenly apply three to four coats of base paint.
3. Apply the candy paint. The candy paint color should be chosen based on the color of the base and the sealer. The candy paint should be applied in four to five even coats, and each coat should be given proper time to dry before the next coat is put on.
