Soft rollers make for easy painting.
If you are in the habit of cleaning your roller whenever you have to interrupt your painting job, then you know how troublesome and time-consuming this can be. It also wastes paint and creates pollution. It is easier to cover your roller so it will remain soft and full of paint for the next use, saving you from wasting more paint filling it up each time you use it. If you happen to leave the roller too long and the paint hardens, don't worry, you can still save it.
Instructions
1. Squeeze as much paint as you can out of the roller on the surface you are painting or in the paint tray if it is empty.
2. Leave the roller on the frame and wrap it in a wet towel, then wrap plastic food wrap around the towel and hang the frame in a cool dark place until you are ready to use it again. You can also remove the roller from the frame and store it in the refrigerator.
3. Slide the roller into a cylindrical potato chip container if you plan on storing it for an extended time. Once the roller is in the container, pull out the frame and put the plastic cover on the container. Store the container in a cool, dark place or the refrigerator.
4. Restore a roller if the paint has dried on it by rolling it in paint stripper to soften the paint. Let the stripper work for about 20 minutes, then roll out the stripper and old paint on a scrap piece or cardboard. When the roller is as dry as you can make it, wash it with paint thinner or water and roll it out once more on cardboard. Do this as many times as is needed to soften the nap.
