Remove Spray Fresh paint From The Front yard

Spray paint on a driveway

Driveways are constructed out of porous materials that easily absorb moisture, including the oils in spray paint. Absorbed paint is impossible to just scrape off, and basic paint strippers will not remove it either, but all hope is not lost. There is an effective and inexpensive way to remove spray paint from the driveway, which entails using an industrial strength paint remover.

Instructions

1. Soak the grass along the driveway with water to prevent chemical runoff from killing the grass. Cut strips of cardboard to lay alongside the driveway. The cardboard will absorb the majority of any runoff before it hits the grass.

2. Put on chemical resistant rubber gloves, and safety goggles. Industrial paint removers are caustic, and will cause skin burns.

3. Pour or spray remover on the spray paint and allow the remover to sit for the time recommended by the manufacturer, but do not allow it to dry. Use the wire brush to scrub the painted area. Use a rag to wipe up the remover and the paint. Repeat this step until you have removed all of the paint that you can.

4. Wash the entire driveway with a high power pressure washer. A 3,000-PSI pressure washer with the nozzle turned to a narrow spray pattern will blast remnants of spray paint that have not been removed from scrubbing with the wire brush.

5. Remove the cardboard and place it in a plastic trash bag along with the rags. Include the paint remover container if it is empty. Take the bag to the local hazardous waste facility for proper disposal.
