Colorbond Roof Colors

The color of a roof has a drastic impact on the overall look of the home but can also have an impact on the temperature of the home, which is because some colors absorb heat from the sun, raising the ambient temperature, while others reflect it back into the environment. Colorbond manufactures roofing in several shades that beautify the home while also neutralizing or reflecting light.

Green

Although darker shades can absorb some sunlight, raising the ambient temperature of the home, green colored roofing complements both light and dark home color schemes and is available in several shades. Colorbond produces several green colors for its roofing, including the light and muted Pale Eucalyptus, the medium and almost gray Wilderness and the dark and deep Cottage Green.

White

Not as common a color for roofing as some darker grays or greens, white is the lightest color and reflects the most light. This feature helps to keep heat out of the home, lowering the summer electrical bill along with the temperature in the house. Colorbond's shade of white is called Surfmist. Although this color is compatible with many shades of siding, it shows dirt very easily and requires a strenuous cleaning schedule, especially for homes located under tall trees. Because of this, some homeowners choose off-white shades such as Classic Cream.

Blue

A color that contrasts well with red, gray, white and some shades of green, several shades of blue are available as roofing from Colorbond. These shades include a light blue-gray called Windspray, the darker tone Ironstone and the rich blue color Deep Ocean. An almost purple-colored Loft is also available, although this color does not match as many color schemes as lighter blues.

Red

The color of baked clay, red contributes to an organic tone for the home. Shades of red by Colorbond include the light and muted Headland and the darker, warmer Manor Red. Each of these colors is compatible with red, white, green, blue and gray siding.

Gray

One of the most common colors for roofing, gray is available in several shades, ranging from the almost white to the almost black. Except for very light and very dark shades, this cool neutral color neither absorbs nor reflects a great deal of light from the sun. Colorbond shades of gray include the light Shale Gray and Evening Haze, the medium toned Bushland and Dune and the dark Woodland Gray and Monument.
