Paint by Numbers
You can create your own art masterpieces just like a professional artist to hang in your home. Paint by number sets were created by Max Klein and Dan Robbins in 1951. They were very popular in the 1950s and you can still find plenty of them today. Even if you've never touched a paintbrush in your life, you can become an instant artist with paint by number.
Instructions
1. Do a search online for the perfect paint by number picture you would like to create or visit your local hobby store to see their collection. You can find paint by number sets in a variety of beautiful scenes and themes. Decide if you would like to work with acrylics or oil paints.
2. Select a place to work. If you plan on taking more than one day to complete your creation, choose an area where your work will not get disrupted or be in the way of other members of your household.
3. Lay down newspaper on the area where you'll create your masterpiece to minimize mess and lessen the amount of cleanup you'll have to do afterward. Keep rags handy in case of spillage.
4. Get a disposable cup that you won't be using as a drink cup in the future and fill it with lukewarm water to clean your brush. You can use water to clean acrylic paints and most oil paints that come in paint by number kits. If they require a special cleaner, most kits will come with a jar of it.
5. Get out all your materials: the canvas, paints, brush, and instructions.
6. Decide which color to begin painting with and paint every space with the corresponding number first before moving on to the next color. Let the color dry before changing colors to avoid mixing.
7. Frame or matte your creation once it has completely dried and display it proudly.
