Provide Your House Exterior A Transformation

Small changes can have big impacts in sprucing up your home's exterior.

Whether you are getting ready to sell or just want to spruce up your home, giving its exterior a makeover will improve curb appeal and give your house a fresh look that will welcome you home each evening. Even small changes can have a big impact, so don't assume you have to make major improvements or spend thousands of dollars. You can perk up your home yourself, and in just a weekend or two have an improved look to your house.

Instructions

1. Hose down the exterior of your house with a strong hose spray or a power washer. Removing dirt and cobwebs will quickly freshen up the home's appearance.

2. Repaint the exterior trim on your home. Freshen up tired paint with a new coat in the same color as your existing paint, or go with a new color for a new look.

3. Clean out rain gutters, and replace any that are broken or rotted. Sweep fallen leaves or other debris from your roof.

4. Install a new porch light fixture, and replace any old, broken or unattractive lighting fixtures leading up your front walkway.

5. Hang shutters for a functional and decorative touch. Home improvement centers have a wide range of shutters in different sizes, colors and materials.

6. Improve your landscaping by pulling weeds, mowing, trimming hedges and shrubs, and planting some flowers.

7. Replace your mailbox with a new model that complements your home.

8. Repaint your home street number on the curb in front of your house, and attach new, bright metal address numerals to the front of your house near the front entry.
