Best Fresh paint Colors To Fresh paint A Family Room In Twotone

Decide on complementary or analogous colors for a two-tone living room.

Choosing two paint colors that go well together in your living room can often be difficult. However, using color schemes that make use of two colors that go together can help you decide on colors to paint your two-tone living room. Using these colors in just the right saturation and amounts, such as choosing a color that dominates and another for support, creates a living room with colors that are pleasing to the eye.

Complementary Colors

Complementary colors are opposite each other on the color wheel. Using complementary colors creates a vibrant, high-contrast look in a room. The use of complementary colors can be jarring to the eye, especially when using bold hues.

Complementary Examples

Paint a living room in two-tone using complementary colors such as red and green, violet and yellow or blue and orange. Other colors you can use to paint your living room in two-tone are red-orange and blue-green, red-violet and yellow-green, or blue-violet and yellow-orange. Tints, or lighter versions of these colors, or shades, or darker versions of these colors, may also be used.

Analogous Colors

Colors that are side-by-side on the color wheel are analogous colors. Analogous colors are harmonious, or go well together, and are pleasing to the eye. This color scheme, which is often found in nature, is not as vibrant as the use of complementary colors.

Analogous Examples

Some example of analogous colors are orange and yellow-orange, green and blue-green, violet and red-violet and yellow and yellow green. Other examples include violet and blue-violet, blue and blue-green, yellow-orange and yellow, orange and red-orange and red-orange and red. As with complementary colors, tints or shades of these colors may also be used.
