Mixing stucco with paint will save you time.
When you install stucco onto the interior or exterior of your home, you can expect it to dry to a dull white or grayish color on your walls. This means installing stucco is a two-part process where you install the stucco, wait a few days for drying and then paint over the stucco with paint. You can expedite the process by mixing a colored pigment in the stucco before installing it -- turning your stucco into a stucco paint.
Instructions
1. Fill a wheelbarrow with your package of stucco and mix in the recommended amount of water. The amount of water depends on the brand of stucco you plan to use. Mix the stucco and water with a mixing trowel until you have a consistent blend of compound.
2. Add the stucco color pigment to the mixed stucco. Follow the initial dosage direction on the packaging of pigment and then mix the color thoroughly.
3. Add additional pigment if you want the color to look darker. Keep in mind that the light color of the stucco will lighten the shade of the pigment. Adding more pigment will help to overcome this issue. Thoroughly mix the pigment.
