Yes, you can remove a slug stain from your home's vinyl siding.
Slugs, similar to snails, are gastropods that eat vegetables and thrive in areas that are moist. The creatures are mostly found in gardens and are difficult to remove from these environments without killing them. Slugs also leave behind a silver residue as they move across plants and surfaces including your home's vinyl siding. The stain dries and leaves a visible trail mark that is removable from vinyl siding and other surfaces. Failure to remove the slug stain can lead to the trail mark collecting dirt and debris and possibly staining the siding permanently.
Instructions
1. Spray the area containing the slug stain with water from a water hose. Wear latex gloves to keep your hands clean and dry.
2. Apply 2 tbsp. of lacquer thinner, available at hardware and home improvement stores, to a soft cloth or rag.
3. Blot the slug stain with the lacquer thinner-soaked cloth or rag. Do not wipe the stain; this will spread the stain. Reapply lacquer thinner to the cloth or rag and continue blotting the stain until it is gone.
Note, you will see paint from your vinyl siding on the cloth or rag---this is OK and the result of using lacquer thinner.
4. Rinse the vinyl siding thoroughly with water from a water hose. Dry the vinyl siding with a clean cloth or rag.
