Painting a room two different colors requires the same techniques you'd use to paint any other room. You need to have a clear idea or design in mind from the start. If you are going to paint the top half of the walls one color and the bottom another you will need to measure and make sure all of your lines are straight and even.
Instructions
1. Prime the walls first if you are painting on new walls. Scrape and sand existing paint down smooth to give the new paint a good surface to stick to.
2. Section off the walls with blue painter's tape where the two colors will meet. If one of the sections is much larger than the other, paint that section first, starting at the edge with an angled brush. Work in small sections at a time and follow the edging with a roller in the middle of the wall.
3. Wait for the first coat to dry completely before applying another. Do not move on to the other color until the first is finished. Use a yard stick or measuring tape to help you draw your lines and mark them lightly with a pencil. The use of a level would also help you create straight lines.
4. Use the same edging technique with the second color as you did with the first. Avoid getting a lot of thick paint on the tape because you will risk having some of the paint rip off of the wall. Wait until all sections are completely dry before removing or laying down tape.
