Although your beloved pet rock may have a deluxe home filled with furniture and activities in your room, also create a travel house that you can take with you in your purse or book bag. Add a few decorative touches to make it as eye-catching as it is efficient.
Instructions
1. Buy a wood box large enough to accommodate your pet rock. Find one with a display-type lid where your rock can sit and enjoy the scenery when you take him outside. If he doesn't fit inside the lid, use it to hold a label featuring your pet rock's name or other decorative touches like shells, paper flowers or charms.
2. Paint the outside of the box with your or your pet rock's favorite color. If you'd like, create a funky finish by pressing a piece of bubble wrap or mesh into the wet paint and removing it or by letting the first color dry and then applying a second shade with a sponge or balled up paper towel.
3. Add embellishments once the paint is dry. Use a smaller paintbrush to create a detailed design, use stickers to write your pet rock's name, make a flourish with glitter glue or affix dimensional items like buttons, gems or foam shapes to the sides of the home.
4. Make the inside of the box homey and decorative for your pet rock. Affix small photos of the two of you to the sides and create carpeting with a little piece of faux fur or fun foam. If there's enough room inside, make a spot where your pet can rest. Cut, tape and paint a cardboard couch or simply glue several layers of foam together to become a cushy bed.
