Create A Michael Myers Mask

Michael Myers' mask has gotten a lot scarier through the years. However, the original, chalk-white mask is still the best in its scary simplicity. You, too, can look like this.

In the old days, movie monsters were supernatural creatures like werewolves and vampires, not humans who become killing machines because of something in their twisted past. That all changed with the advent of such characters as Michael Myers of the "Halloween" series and Jason from the "Friday the 13th" movies---both were very troubled young men who slashed and stabbed their way into our nightmares, and both could indeed be that troubled young man living next to any of us. And those movies also made it very easy for the rest of us to scare the people around us too. Make yourself a Michael Myers mask and you too can act like a fiend. It's all in the mask, you know.

Instructions

1. Use your scissors and make the eyeholes bigger so they show more of your eye. Most masks only have slits for eyes, but as you can see in the photo above, pretty much the whole eye should show.

2. Use your sandpaper and lightly sand the mask. You don't want to sand too hard because it will scratch the mask too much, but you do want to make the mask feel a little scratchy so the paint will adhere to it. Since you're painting plastic, the paint will peel off if you don't do this.

3. Put a thin coat of paint on the mask. Depending on what's already on your mask, (say if it's a Batman mask) you may have to use more than one coat of paint. After all, you don't want any human-looking skin poking through your mask. Keep the coats thin so they don't break and chip off when your mask is dry.

4. As you can see above, Michael Myers had the bed head look going long before his time. If you have hair that's about an inch or two long, you can re-create this look with Vasoline and baby powder. Put a little bit of Vasoline in your hand and use it to make large chunks of your hair or wig spiky. Then powder it with some baby powder. You don't want to make it white, but you want to make it really stand up.

5. Once your mask is dry, you can decide whether you want eyebrows on it. Now pair that mask with dark clothes, a fake butcher knife and a menacing walk.
