Estimate Aluminum Siding

Before installing aluminum siding, you'll need an estimate

Whether you are installing aluminum siding on your own home or doing it for someone else, it's important to estimate the job. Costing out the task is quite easy. You will need to measure the house, find out what materials are needed and the cost of materials and tools. You will also need to factor in time and labor to provide a complete estimate if you are doing the job for someone else.

Instructions

1. Write down the exact measurement of the portion of the house to be covered. Measure the square footage by multiplying the length and width of each wall as accurately as you can. Then add the figures together to arrive at the necessary amount of siding you will need.

2. Choose between lengths of aluminum siding or continuous rolls. If you plan to use lengths, determine how many panels you will need to cover the house. You should consider adding about five percent to the total for inevitable errors. If you plan to use continuous rolls, don't forget that you'll need to rent a machine and its cost should be included in your estimate.

3. Get several prices from retailers that deal in aluminum siding. Home center stores sell aluminum siding by-the-piece, while you probably will need to get quotes from wholesalers who sell continuous aluminum siding in rolls. Regardless of which type you will install, it's always good to shop around for the best price.

4. Estimate the whole job. You will need several items in addition to the siding. The job calls for insulation, nails, adhesive, and scaffolding which can add a significant amount to your estimate. In addition, you may need to rent or buy extra tools besides the aluminum extruder mentioned in Step 2.
