Fresh paint Suggestions For Room With Eco-friendly Carpet

A bright green carpet is evocative of nature.

Reminiscent of nature, a green carpet can remind you of a thick bed of grass or springtime leaves. Green and the wealth of shades that the color possesses offer a wealth of design possibilities. When deciding upon the paint colors for a room with a green carpet, it's hard to go wrong. However, certain colors look better than others with green.

Warm Colors

Green, a cool color, is directly opposite the warm colors on the color wheel, such as shades of red and orange. When you pair green with a warm color, you create a truly striking color combination. A classic example of this is red and green, abundantly used at Christmas. But you need not shy away from using red paint on your walls with a green carpet for fear of creating a perpetual holiday theme in your room. A muted, burnished red, orange or copper will be evocative of exposed brick and pair nicely with green. If you're afraid that those colors might be too overwhelming for one room, paint just one or two walls of the room or select a green carpet that has a more subtle shade, such as sage.

Earth Tones

With green being so strongly evocative of nature, a green carpet is a suitable foundation for a room colored with accents of earth tones. The paint colors of the walls can adhere to this theme and display shades of brown, tan, blue, yellow or cream. The walls can showcase the same color or a selection of two colors. For example, one main color shade as a light chocolate milk hue can color in the bulk of the wall with a supplementary color such as dark cream painted on the trimmings. Alternatively, you can paint the walls a lighter shade of the green of your carpet. While some might think this is simply too much green for one room, a color such as pale mint green can create an elegant room of continuous color. For a kid's room, a green carpet is appropriate for a room that has a mural of a blue sky on the ceiling.

Retro Rooms

Turquoise, aqua and mint green are popular colors for retro home decor styles. Styles of the 1960s and '70s featured bold, bright colors to energize and provide distinction to rooms. With a green carpet as the starting point, you have a freedom of festive color options for the walls and ceiling. Orange, yellow, red, pink and electric blue are possibilities. If you are afraid such colors could overwhelm a room, consider painting just a couple walls of the room such shades, or tone them down with a paler version. These paint colors will prep the room for vintage pieces such as bubble lamps and kidney-shaped tables.
